Important information about GPS in Preddvor Print E-mail

[edit: this is just as controversial as expected Kiss and some more thought needs to go into it. For now, if you GPS is approved by the PWCA we won't turn you back in Preddvor - the other issues must be handled in the mean time.]

Hi All,

As some altitude restrictions will apply in the area immediately around the Krvavec launch we have to be a little more specific about the GPS models we use.

I'm not familiar with all GPS's, so all I can say at the moment is that to fly in the Nordic Open 2009 you need to be able to present a track log from a GPS logging in 3D, and this must be GPS 3D. Some Garmin models apparently log a combination of Baro and GPS altitude - this will not be suffficient - and some Flytec models log the track in GPS mode, but the altitude in Baro mode - this will also not be sufficient. This to make the rules equal for all.

So if you don't have an instrument that lives up to these criteria at the moment I suggest you borrow one from a friend for the duration of the event.

Sorry for the inconvenience, more as soon as the Local Rules are ready,

 Meet Head
