Comp is full Print E-mail
I'm pleased to announce that the competition is now fully booked. I have decided to reserve the option to overbook by one person, namely Janne Järnesjö from Sweden, if he can make it. Janne had a bad crash during the 2007 Nordic Open and is facing some additional surgery soon - if he recovers in time he'll have the 136th place, if not we remain 135 as we are now,

The payment form has been taken Offline (clever system huh?) and those of you currently on the "Paid" list are the ones I'll be seeing in Preddvor in July. If for some reason you cannot make it anyway please do let me know as soon as possible, I'll then offer your place to the next person on the list. If I can assign your place to another pilot I'll return your payment (minus all the banking fees) up until two weeks before the comp, after that you'll need a VERY good reason to persuade me to do so.
As always, the best way to get your money back is to give your place to a friend and let me know that I should remove you from the "Paid" list and put the friend on it instead.

So, I'm writing this from my room at the Hotel Bor - the HQ for the Nordic Open 2009.
A few minutes ago we had a meeting with Andrej Breznik, the manager of the hotel, and we agreed to make this the HQ for the event. Hotel Bor will also be offering discounts for pilots wishing to stay here, more in the "Accomodation" link on the left.

The Hotel Bor, seen from the official landing. The contrast in the image is not great, but with a bit of squinting you can JUST make out the Krvavec launch, it is the snowcovered peak in the background just left of the tall pine trees behind the hotel. For some pilots, even making the official landing from the official launch will feel like an accomplishment! But no worries, there are ample landing options along the way...

Good news for PWC pilots Print E-mail
During the PWC Brazil I had an opportunity to speak to Xavier Murillo about the potential conflict of the two events Nordic Open/PWC Buzet, Croatia.

I'm happy to announce that we WILL have a flying day on Saturday, July 11th in the Nordic Open. We will try to make a short, racy task and also to have the prize giving no later than 2000 hours so that pilots flying in Buzet have time to get there. Xavier asks only that we send him an email during the week with a list of the names of pilots who are coming late for registration in Buzet - he has promised to keep the registration open for these pilots.

This means that we have a 7 day event, just as I had hoped!

I'm going to Slovenia tomorrow (arrival Saturday) to meet with all the relevant people and authorities, will post more news as it becomes available!

Cheers from Mads, recently back from Brazil (!)
